How to Use Multi-system Data Stream Reading on Launch X431 PAD Series Tablet?

This post highlights the advantages of Multi-system Data Stream Reading and guides you on using this function with Launch X431 PAD9 LINK, X431 PAD V, or X431 PAD VII.

What is Multi-system Data Stream Reading?
Key Features and Benefits:
The X431 PAD9 LINK (PAD IX) supports similar functions as PAD V and PAD VII, with several enhancements:
  • Equipped with the new SmartLink C 3.0 VCI, offering enhanced Wi-Fi communication and more secure connections;
  • Features the newest operating system, largest operation screen, highest memory and storage, and the best camera resolution;
  • Now supports Multi-system Data Stream Reading for improved diagnostic capabilities.

A data stream represents real-time data from sensors, switches, and actuators linked to the vehicle's ECU.

For technicians, reading the data stream is crucial when diagnosing fault codes. While fault codes provide insights, analyzing the data stream parameters allows for a more precise understanding of the root cause of the issue.

Why Multi-system Data Stream Reading Matters?
  • Enables viewing data streams from multiple systems or ECUs simultaneously.
  • Allows faster and more accurate fault detection, particularly for complex vehicle issues.
The Multi-system Data Stream Reading function lets you combine and monitor data streams from multiple systems in one view, significantly speeding up diagnostics.

How to Use Multi-system Data Stream Reading?
Step-by-step Instructions:
1.Connect SmartLink C VCI to the Vehicle
Plug the Launch SmartLink C VCI into the vehicle's OBD port.

2.Connect the SmartLink C to the X431 Tablet via Wi-Fi
Ensure the connection is successful.

3.Access Intelligent Diagnose or Local Diagnose
Select either "Intelligent Diagnose" or "Local Diagnose" to enter the topology mapping.
For example, selecting Intelligent Diagnose will connect the VCI via Wi-Fi, automatically read, and decode the VIN.

4.Locate "Multi-system Data Stream" Menu
If supported by your vehicle model, an additional "Multiple System Data Stream" menu will appear in the left-hand menu bar.

5.Select and Combine Data Streams
On the Multi-system Data Stream Reading page, you will see three columns: System, Data Stream, and Combine.
Choose data streams from different systems. Options include Whole Vehicle Core Data Stream and Historical Self-selection.
For instance, selecting Whole Vehicle Core Data Stream allows you to view core data streams for the specific vehicle model. Click "OK" once you've made your selections.
